Get ready because you’re about to learn some of the best practices that are proven to drive traffic to your website (and eventually convert them into customers).
Any business owner in the 21st century knows that an online presence is important. So, if you want to know how to drive more traffic, there are plenty of ways to go about doing it. Sure, you can use paid methods, but we’ve also got a few tips that won’t cost you a cent.
Why is it important to drive traffic to your website?
Many businesses these days will be discovered through an internet search, particularly when someone is looking for a product or service near their local area.
By all means word of mouth is still powerful but it can only get so far. Sometimes, it’s better to just ‘Google it’. Without traffic to your site, you won’t have the opportunity to convert a percentage of those looking at your website into customers.
Online reviews
Online reviews can be found on places like your Google business page, Yelp or Glassdoor.
You may come across reviews of an unruly customer who had ‘bad service’ because they flexed their ‘the customer is always right’ muscles and failed badly. But for the most part, customers will be intrigued by the positive experiences of your past customers. For this reason, they’ll want to learn more about your services and go to your website.
Content marketing
Whether it’s with blog posts or videos, content can really give you an opportunity to create more value with your customers (whether they are prospective or otherwise). Even before you have snagged a new customer, you’ve already made them happy.
If your content is search engine optimized, it can be found if someone searches for something on Google. For example, if your content includes the keywords ‘plumbing service in Sydney, NSW’ or something similar, your page might appear in the search results.
How it ranks will depend on various factors such as whether the keyword is competitive or easy to rank. Side tip, Google tends to favour long-form written content (anywhere 1000 words or more). If you are going down the video route, your videos could also be searchable on YouTube using common keywords related to your business.
Social media
Social media can play a role in driving traffic to your website for free. If you can regularly put together content and showcase it on your Facebook page and other platforms, it may get people to click for more. Your social media following may also play a role in sharing the posts if they somehow have value.
Paid advertising
Up to this point, we’ve shown you some organic methods to get more traffic. However, if you want to accelerate things a bit, there’s paid advertising. Facebook Ads still hold a bit of power in drawing traffic to your website.
You can set the ad up based on the budget and who you would like to see it based on certain demographics, pages they like, and more. The platform may seem a bit of a challenge to use at first. However, once you get the hang of it, you will be able to target your ideal customers using the platform. Not bad, right?
Advantages of getting more visitors to your website
People will learn about your business
Simply put, people will know who you are and why you are in business. It will also answer the question of ‘will this business help me and if so, how’? The minute they land on your website, they want this question answered quickly.
You can provide more value
When people end up on your website, they’ll see that you have something to offer. It will also give you the opportunity to provide them with more value and showcase your workplace culture. You may not get to convert all the traffic into paying customers. You will, however, convert the traffic that matches who you are looking for in a customer.
You give them an opportunity to contact you
More traffic means more conversations initiated, more questions asked and fingers crossed, more sales!
